Surgery update

Talked with Mari today. They went in for a cat scan and the doctor opted to hold off on the surgery until Wed. Kelly has had a drip from his nasal passage and the doctor feels that it is brain fluid leaking. They are seeing a ears, nose, and throat doctor to confirm. They will want to make sure they take care of this when they are putting the forehead bone back in. Pray for the doctors to have wisdom, and surgery to be successful. Kelly and Mari have been at the hospital a big portion of the day. Kelly is tired. Pray that Kelly gets rested up for the surgery. We serve a mighty God.
Mari also said she hasn't called lately because no news is good news. Kelly has continued to get stronger every day and is recovering amazingly. Pray for total provision. They had hoped to have the surgery this year so as not to have to meet the deductible for the new year.

Thursday call

Mari called today and said she spoke with the neuro surgeon today. They plan to do the cat scan on the 29th and surgery on the 30th to replace the forehead bone in Kelly's head . Pray for all this to go accordingly. If Kelly's surgery is delayed until January they will have to meet a new deductible. Repairs are underway with the shower. Pray for all this to be fixed quickly with no complications.

Tuesday call

Mari called this morning and said that Kelly is doing wonderful. He's eating well, walking well, and overall recovering fabulously. They had some pipes break behind their shower last night. Mari and Kelly's bedroom is soaked, a hallway, and part of Karen's room. They are in the process of drying out and have repairs in process. Please pray that repairs go quickly, and smoothly with no complications. I told Mari that I knew Kelly would improve greatly when he had her good cooking.:)

Wednesday update 3:45 PM

Yeah! We are home!!! We are not scheduled to see the doctor until December 29 again so I guess we'll have the surgery sometime after that. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as Kelly continues to heal and recover.

Wednesday Morning email

This is an email we received this Morning. Julie

We are supposed to be coming home from the hospital sometime today. The doctor came to visit with me around midnight yesterday and answered all the questions I had. Kelly should be home between 7-10 days before returning to the hospital to have the bone put back in. That hospital stay will last between 3-4 days. Please be praying for a smooth transition from the hospital to home. Praise God that he is doing well enough to be at home while the swelling continues to go down!

Love,
Mari

Sunday e-mail

Kelly's rash continued today…he was very itchy and uncomfortable. His tongue seems to be doing a little better. They went ahead and stopped all the antibiotics at this time. He seems to be getting so strong every day. He can make it to the bathroom almost without any assistance. We continue to have good days and believe that his total restoration is just around the corner.

Love,
Mari

Friday call

Mari called and said Kelly once again walked twice as far and at a faster pace as he did yesterday. Yesterday, the speech therapist asked Kelly why he wasn't eating much. He said his tongue was hurting. They've given him some medication that he reacted to. He's off the medication and they are trying to figure out what's wrong. Pray that his tongue will heal up quickly. Mari also said that one of the doctors mentioned Kelly going home until the swelling in his brain goes down.. They would have him come back for surgery to replace the forehead bone. Mari is unsure about taking Kelly home without his forehead bone. Pray for the doctors to have wisdom for what is best for Kelly and for Mari to have wisdom and peace about their decision.

Wednesday call

Hi everyone,
Mari said they had another good day. The physical therapist came in and worked with Kelly's muscles and his balance. Kelly walked about twice as far as he did the day before. He is progressing daily. Praise the Lord!!! No more drinking out of a straw. He is holding his cup and drinking. His coordination is very good. They have taken him off of water completely to get his food intake back in line. He is drinking ensure and protein drinks with his meals. Karen dislocated her elbow, so Mari was on the way to the clinic for that. Continue to pray for Mari and the kids to stay in complete health.
Ps 91:1-2
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust."
NKJV
.
Ps 91:9-13
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

Tuesday call

Mari said Kelly had another good day!! Praise the Lord!! He walked from his room to the nurses station and back. A physical therapist came in to test his strength and balance, he's doing well. He still has swollen nerves in his brain which is throwing his balance off. Also, his left eye still needs to open up all the way. Kelly has been awake each time the kids have come to visit so they've been able to talk to their Daddy. Yea!!! The speech therapist came yesterday and Mari said Kelly's responses were right on. She asked him how long he had been in the hospital, what month it was and where his oldest son went to school. His memory is very accurate. Mari wants us to pray for Kelly's throat to heal. He's not eating very much and she thinks its because his throat is still very sore from the tubes. Kelly has a little cough, so pray for continued divine health in his body so it can heal quickly and not have to fight off germs.

Sunday morning

Mari called this morning and said she woke up(she's rooming in with Kelly on a cot) to Kelly sitting up in bed trying to get up to sit in a chair. When Kelly is up he has been staying awake for about an hour or more. His right eye is open all the time now and the left eye is slowly opening. He's eating solid foods now which is great. They still chop it up. Kelly was scheduled for surgery today to put his forehead bone back in, however, the doctor decided to wait until a little more swelling has gone down. They don't want to rush it. Kelly had a cat scan and Mari said it looked great. When Mari called to check on the kids today Kelly was able to talk to them too. They were all planning a family get together today. Praise the Lord!!! Mari said that they will start getting Kelly up to a walker on Monday. She also asked us to pray for her health. She's been congested and wants to stay healthy, whole, and germ free. Father, we agree with Mari and praise you for the divine health that she walks in. Thank you that the entire Dunn family walks in the perfection that you created them to.

Ps 107:19-21
9 Then they cried out to the Lord in their trouble,
And He saved them out of their distresses.
20 He sent His word and healed them,
And delivered them from their destructions.
21 Oh, that men would give thanks to the Lord for His goodness,
And for His wonderful works to the children of men!

Visiting dad

Gabriel, Matthew, and Karen visited Kelly today. Yea!!! Kelly opened his eyes long enough to read the card the kids brought. Praise the Lord! Mari said they will do surgery on Sunday to put the forehead bone back in. They will do a cat scan tomorrow to double check that everything looks good. A speech therapist is coming in today to evaluate Kelly, making sure he can swallow properly. If all goes well, Kelly will come off the liquid diet and hopefully get to eat some solid food. Mari asked us to pray this comes to pass, she thinks he's ready to eat real food. Keep up the prayers. God is so good and Kelly is healing quickly. Blessings to you all.

Giving thanks

The Dunn's are celebrating a very thankful Thanksgiving. Kelly moved into the step down unit yesterday and Mari spent the night with Kelly. She said they held hands all night. When she holds his hand he doesn't try to pull his attached lines out. He ate some cream of wheat this morning and he swallowed some pills for the first time. His eyes are slowly starting to open. The doctor said his optic nerves and muscles are bruised severely, so pray for that bruising to go away in Jesus name. The doctor also said they should be able to put his forehead bone back in about a week. Mari asked us to pray for Matthew's healed body as well. She's ready for the kids to go see Kelly, however, needs to see some improvement in Matthew. She's believing that Sunday the kids will be able to visit their daddy. Also, keep Mari in prayer. She's getting worn out. Father, we thank you for the good report. Praise you Father.

Moving date

What? A moving date. Yes, Kelly is moving out of ICU. God is so good. He will move to a step down unit tomorrow. A step down unit is a room with a little less monitoring and Mari will have more visiting time. Kelly was sitting up eating jello and drinking apple juice today. Bless you Lord!!! Mari would like us to pray for Kelly to be able to open his eyes. The doctor's don't want him to walk until he can open his eyes. The swelling has gone down tremendously. Kelly is trying, he says his eyes are heavy. In addition to the head injury , the surgery Wed. when they removed part of his fore head, has much to do with Kelly having difficulty opening his eyes. So, God we ask in Jesus name that Kelly will open his eyes now.

Mari's afternoon call

Mari called and continues to praise the Lord for everything he is doing in Kelly. As she was visiting Kelly this afternoon she was singing and could see Kelly mouthing the words to the song. Wow, Praise the Lord! As she was about to leave Kelly motioned for her to give him a kiss.
Father, we praise you for the manifestation of healing we see taking place in Kelly.

Monday Morning Call From Mari

Mari just called again. She said she talked more with the doctors and they are taking all the IV's out and putting in what they call a pick line. From what I understand a pick line is a needle that will stay in his arm so that they can administer any medicine or fluids or whatever they need to give him. After the breathing tube came out the doctors noticed that he had lots of phlegm in his throat. The doctors told her the phlegm needs to come out, and his airways need to stay clear. It's very hard for him to cough all that up because his throat is sore from having the breathing tube in. Please pray that his lungs and airways will clear and the phlegm will come out of his throat.

Another praise report

Mari just called. She usually calls the doctor early before she goes to the hospital. This morning she did not. When she walked up the doctor commented that she had not called. She asked if everything was OK. He snuck her back before visiting hours to see Kelly sitting up in bed. He had pulled his breathing tube out himself and was suctioning his mouth and throat out himself. Mary said, "Hi Honey" and Kelly responded with, "Hi Honey-Buney" He is talking very soft and shallow due to the breathing tube. That should clear up soon. Pray that it is speedy. One of Kelly's eyes is almost open. Praise the Lord!!!
Matthew is running a fever and is fighting bronchitas. Mari is taking him to the clinic this morning. Pray that his body functions to the perfection that God created it to function. Father, we thank you that the entire Dunn family walks in divine health.
Ps 103:2-3
Bless the Lord, O my soul,
And forget not all His benefits:
3 Who forgives all your iniquities,
Who heals all your diseases,

Isa 58:8
Then your light shall break forth like the morning,
Your healing shall spring forth speedily,
And your righteousness shall go before you;
The glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.

Praise report!!!

Mari just called and when she went in for the 2p.m. visit Kelly waved at her. She was a little shocked and asked him if he was OK? He motioned to her that he was fine. Kelly is breathing on his own right now and Dr. Duarte said he would take the breathing tube out in a few days. Kelly's fever is down and his pressure is normal. They took the head pressure monitor off too. Said, there is no need for that anymore. Also, he had a chest IV and it came out. Father, we give you all the glory!!! Mari said her heart is leaping and she knows Kelli is going to be fine. The doctor's say it could take up to a year for Kelli to be back 100%, Mari is believing for supernatural recovery to glorify God. Let's all agree with her in prayer. Continue to pray for swelling to go down on his face. He cannot open his eyes yet and I know he and Mary would love to make eye contact.

Kelly's progress

Wednesday Kelly's brain started to swell. After visiting with Doctor Duarte and praying together Mary and Dr. Duarte decided to do emergency surgery. They cut part of Kelly's forhead bone out, attaching it to his stomach to keep it alive, to give the brain room to expand. This procedure helped and his brain pressure is back to normal. How cool is it that Kelly's doctor is a praying man of God. Praise you Lord!!!
Kelly has been running fever the last couple of days, so please pray specifically that the fever goes now in Jesus name so his body can heal quickly. Lord, we pray Kelly's body function in the perfection that you created it to function.
John 14:12-14

12 "Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.
NKJV
Mari also asked that we pray for his pressure to line up, its been a little high.
They have been weaning Kelly from the breathing machine and hope to take it out in a couple of days.
Mari has been showered with blessings from everyone. She said every detail has been taken care of. Thank you all for all you are doing for Mari and the kids. Keep up the prayers. Be encouraged to leave comments and well wishes for the family to read.

The Wreck

Saturday, Nov. 15th Kelly, Gabriel, Matthew, and Karen were on their way to visit Mari's parents in Mereta. Kelly was following a fertilizer truck and when he pulled out to pass the fertilizer truck turned. Kelly sustained massive head injuries. He is ICU at Shannon Hospital. All the children are fine without a scratch on them. Praise the Lord!!!
This blog will serve as an information center so we can all keep up with how Kelly is progressing. We will post updates on Kelly and needs for the family. Please keep them in prayer.
