Surgery update

Talked with Mari today. They went in for a cat scan and the doctor opted to hold off on the surgery until Wed. Kelly has had a drip from his nasal passage and the doctor feels that it is brain fluid leaking. They are seeing a ears, nose, and throat doctor to confirm. They will want to make sure they take care of this when they are putting the forehead bone back in. Pray for the doctors to have wisdom, and surgery to be successful. Kelly and Mari have been at the hospital a big portion of the day. Kelly is tired. Pray that Kelly gets rested up for the surgery. We serve a mighty God.
Mari also said she hasn't called lately because no news is good news. Kelly has continued to get stronger every day and is recovering amazingly. Pray for total provision. They had hoped to have the surgery this year so as not to have to meet the deductible for the new year.

Thursday call

Mari called today and said she spoke with the neuro surgeon today. They plan to do the cat scan on the 29th and surgery on the 30th to replace the forehead bone in Kelly's head . Pray for all this to go accordingly. If Kelly's surgery is delayed until January they will have to meet a new deductible. Repairs are underway with the shower. Pray for all this to be fixed quickly with no complications.

Tuesday call

Mari called this morning and said that Kelly is doing wonderful. He's eating well, walking well, and overall recovering fabulously. They had some pipes break behind their shower last night. Mari and Kelly's bedroom is soaked, a hallway, and part of Karen's room. They are in the process of drying out and have repairs in process. Please pray that repairs go quickly, and smoothly with no complications. I told Mari that I knew Kelly would improve greatly when he had her good cooking.:)

Wednesday update 3:45 PM

Yeah! We are home!!! We are not scheduled to see the doctor until December 29 again so I guess we'll have the surgery sometime after that. Please continue to keep us in your prayers as Kelly continues to heal and recover.

Wednesday Morning email

This is an email we received this Morning. Julie

We are supposed to be coming home from the hospital sometime today. The doctor came to visit with me around midnight yesterday and answered all the questions I had. Kelly should be home between 7-10 days before returning to the hospital to have the bone put back in. That hospital stay will last between 3-4 days. Please be praying for a smooth transition from the hospital to home. Praise God that he is doing well enough to be at home while the swelling continues to go down!

Love,
Mari

Sunday e-mail

Kelly's rash continued today…he was very itchy and uncomfortable. His tongue seems to be doing a little better. They went ahead and stopped all the antibiotics at this time. He seems to be getting so strong every day. He can make it to the bathroom almost without any assistance. We continue to have good days and believe that his total restoration is just around the corner.

Love,
Mari

Friday call

Mari called and said Kelly once again walked twice as far and at a faster pace as he did yesterday. Yesterday, the speech therapist asked Kelly why he wasn't eating much. He said his tongue was hurting. They've given him some medication that he reacted to. He's off the medication and they are trying to figure out what's wrong. Pray that his tongue will heal up quickly. Mari also said that one of the doctors mentioned Kelly going home until the swelling in his brain goes down.. They would have him come back for surgery to replace the forehead bone. Mari is unsure about taking Kelly home without his forehead bone. Pray for the doctors to have wisdom for what is best for Kelly and for Mari to have wisdom and peace about their decision.

Wednesday call

Hi everyone,
Mari said they had another good day. The physical therapist came in and worked with Kelly's muscles and his balance. Kelly walked about twice as far as he did the day before. He is progressing daily. Praise the Lord!!! No more drinking out of a straw. He is holding his cup and drinking. His coordination is very good. They have taken him off of water completely to get his food intake back in line. He is drinking ensure and protein drinks with his meals. Karen dislocated her elbow, so Mari was on the way to the clinic for that. Continue to pray for Mari and the kids to stay in complete health.
Ps 91:1-2
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High
Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say of the Lord, "He is my refuge and my fortress;
My God, in Him I will trust."
NKJV
.
Ps 91:9-13
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place,
10 No evil shall befall you,
Nor shall any plague come near your dwelling;
11 For He shall give His angels charge over you,
To keep you in all your ways.
12 In their hands they shall bear you up,
Lest you dash your foot against a stone.
13 You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.

Tuesday call

Mari said Kelly had another good day!! Praise the Lord!! He walked from his room to the nurses station and back. A physical therapist came in to test his strength and balance, he's doing well. He still has swollen nerves in his brain which is throwing his balance off. Also, his left eye still needs to open up all the way. Kelly has been awake each time the kids have come to visit so they've been able to talk to their Daddy. Yea!!! The speech therapist came yesterday and Mari said Kelly's responses were right on. She asked him how long he had been in the hospital, what month it was and where his oldest son went to school. His memory is very accurate. Mari wants us to pray for Kelly's throat to heal. He's not eating very much and she thinks its because his throat is still very sore from the tubes. Kelly has a little cough, so pray for continued divine health in his body so it can heal quickly and not have to fight off germs.
